The Thought

A thought is nothing,

You’re a dream!

Can’t really explain it,

Don’t want you to think I’m a feen.

The years at bay weren’t a waste,

Because now these thoughts keep up a pace.

A thought, nah love, you’re the space in my mind,

The single thing that occupies most of my time.

Told you three pieces ago,

The bar was set Two years ago.

A thought doesn’t equate to the quake,

I don’t think you quite realize what’s at stake.

With me, you’re a prayer,

One that our Creator sent first class air!

A thought? you’re a comedian at best,

Because I call your name boldly in prayer,

Say it with my whole chest.

So, nah love, you’re more than a thought,

An aura so priceless, you can’t be bought.

So yeah, I think about you,

I care for you,

And all that entails.

Just know that the chemistry here,

isn’t something frail!

A thought…. nah love.

You’re THE THOUGHT.

Pissed

Pardon me Miss,

I feel it would be a little remissed,

If I didn’t tell you,

With you I am pissed!

See, this man, whewwww this man,

You know the one you left scorned,

now he’s afraid to let love home!

You see,

you’ve made this quite hard for me,

You manipualted his heart,

Filled it with scars,

And left him to bleed.

I’m pissed!

You see….

You mishandled him,

then sent him on his way,

But what you didn’t foresee,

Is that I’d be sent his way.

So, the very man that you had the opportunity to love,

you robbed him of feelings,

Used the shit that you couldn’t heal from,

To break this man,

But I’m here to help him heal some!

See, his past with you,

to me really doesn’t matter!

You held his heart in your hand,

But you opted to leave it shattered.

Unlike you,

To me-

his heart matters.

So yes, I’m pissed with you!

Pissed that you would take your old wounds,

Your open scars,

To dismantle and leave a trail of wretched scars,

Making this good man’s heart forever on Guard.

For This man, This man, no matter how hard,

I’m the woman that’s up to the part!

See, I’m the one that’s willing to free his heart,

Usher love in and allow him to be whole again.

Stand ten toes down,

And pray him through his shadows,

because unlike you-

I see his value!!

-KJ-

Seizing

I can see beyond the hurt.

I can see you’re torn between letting me in,

or hiding behind the pain!

Tell [her] we have beef!

Tell [her] we should never meet,

because a man like you,

should have never been subject to [her] abuse.

Whether mental, physical, or emotionally,

She’ll never be good with me.

But come here love,

Let me soothe the pain,

Prove to you, that your heart can love again.

Let me show you the truth,

that everything you thought she took from you,

Was absolutely nothing to the things I wanna’ do for you.

Whatever scars she left, I’m willing to heal,

Melt that ice so genuine love you can feel.

Lend you the hand you so greatly need,

To guide you back to everything you never thought you needed.

If you’re willing,

I’m healing.

If you trust me and let me in,

I promise you, this battle I’ll win.

As much as I want to dislike her for hurting you,

I also want to thank her.

She granted me the opportunity, and I damn sure plan on seizing it.

-KJ-

Just a Heart Pour

Your aura drew me in,

From the first time I saw you,

I knew I’d let you in.

Your style, your swag, your smile,

Your demeanor yelled “manly”and I’d catch myself staring a while.

I played the back, staying in my lane,

Because who said I could be worthy of such a human being.

Such a divine specimen, I don’t think you quite know your worth,

Because if you did, you’d see that I’d be willing to put in the work.

Willing to feed your appetite,

I’m talking mentally, physically, and emotionally.

Willing to make sure you’re feeling alright.

I’m not the ordinary type,

I’m not one to gaslight the hype,

But I’ll pour into your life, something that can’t be taken away over night.

Give you the motivation and the inspiration to live this crazy ass life!

Because unlike the others, unlike the hype, I’d be the type of woman you need in your life.

See I’d be calling your name daily,

Not just metaphorically, but to the Creator so that I could forever thank Him for making you my baby.

I’m not like the rest.

Because when the world gets too heavy, I’d be there for you to get it all off your chest!

Because listen love,

I saw your worth the day that I met you,

I know what your capable of and when your vibe needs protecting.

I know that your guarded, but also ready to love, and understand that I’d be all of the above.

Serenity’s Bliss pt.3

Serenity’s phone rings, she looks at the screen, silences the phone, and places it back in her pocket. Bentley looks at her, she offers no explanation. The phone rings again. She repeats her actions. Bentley asks, “You need to get that?” She replies, It’s no one. They slowly approach the party, folks were standing in the street. Bentley notices a few of his friends in the crowd. He begins to walk toward them, Serenity following close behind

Serenity sees Paige behind the house. “Bentley, I’m going to check on Paige. Call me later.” Bentley nodded her way as she pulled away from him. Paige was standing out of the view of everyone else, shivering, tears in her eyes. Serenity panicked. “What the hell is wrong? What happened?” Paige could barely utter the words from her lips. Serenity reached for her and she collapsed into the arms of her friend. “He..he.. …he’s… Back,” Paige stutters in a faint whisper before passing out.

Serenity yells for help, Bentley turns around rushing to her. He scoops Paige from her quivering arms and runs to a tin shade building near by. Serenity manages to dial 911 through trembling finders and sweaty hands. ” 9-1-1, What is the location of your emergency?” Serenity freezes as the operator asks the question again. Bentley yells in the background, ” the corner of LaBeouf St and Tara rd. Serenity begins to speak. ” My friend has passed out, we need an ambulance as soon as possible please.

Bentley walks over to the counter in the shed, grabs a towel that he quickly damps to place on Paige’s head. Paige slowly begins to groan as the towel is making contact to her skin. As she attempts to rise, Serenity guides her to lay back down. ” What happened Paige?” Paige looks at Bentley, puts her head into Serenity’s chest and begins to wail loudly.

“Bentley, can you go and wait for the ambulance up front so they know where to come?.” Bentley looks at Serenity, nods his head, and walks out of the shed. Paige retrieves her phone from her pocket and hands it over to Serenity.

“P, I’ve missed you. Not a day has gone by I haven’t thought about your beautiful face. I cant wait to see you soon. Be ready for me.”

“How the hell did he find you, and where has he been?” Serenity asked in shock. “This isn’t good Serenity,” Paige sobbed. She continued to sob into Serenity’s shirt. “I’ve got you Paige. I won’t let you face this alone.”

The medics enter the shed and begin to check Paige’s vitals. Serenity stands and glances at Bentley. ” Thank you,” she mouthed quietly, with tear filled eyes.

Presence

Equivalent to holy ground,

your energy breeds serenity,

captivating and astonishing,

stoic and profound.

Our eyes meet,

Your energy consumes me,

Your smile ignites me,

my body follows your lead.

A simple touch of the hand,

my soul trembles at your demand,

Rapidly my heart races,

your eyes glisten with grace.

Time granted fate,

fate granted destiny,

destiny gifted your presence….

your presence seized me.

Different

All I ever yearned for,

Was something different.

Something so strong,

That would easily bend the polar ends.

Something basked in consistency,

Dipped with a coat of laughter,

Heavy on the honesty,

Flaked with a bit of an edge.

Different—— I prayed,

Flawed in the best imperfections,

Standing in confidence,

Clothed in divinity.

Different—— I wished,

Comfort zones, broken…

Chemistry a token,

Respect , that’s a spoken.

Different— specific I was not.

Specialized packaging,

never a must,

Energy I always trust.

Different— I begged.

God just send me different.

And please oh God,

Don’t let me be misled.

Time

Remember when everything seem to flow with you so smoothly?

When there was love, joy and a sense of peace?

Remember that time when you sheltered me with serenity?

Remember when time stood still with just a glance of your eyes?

When the blue was an escape, prefect breathing room for an ocean on the clearest love?

Couldn’t time be rewound to remind us of the glisten in our eyes?

Couldn’t time be rewound, for the lost to be found?

How did we end up so consumed by time in the end?

How did time win a battle when it wasn’t a battle to begin?

How can we get it back, put our love back on track?

Can time actually heal the fragments of this once perfect picture?

Can time recapture the purest moments of the rarest love to to ever touch this generation?!

Why couldn’t time continue to stand still?!

Serenity’s Bliss (continued)

Bentley takes Serenity by the hand and leads her out to the street. “You mind walking to the park with me?” Serenity nods. “Are you going to be this quiet the whole time?” “I’m sorry Bentley. I’m just trying to wrap my head around you actually coming to talk to me.”  Serenity stumbles on her footing. She doesn’t know if she’s that nervous, or if its a result of the drink she was sipping on before Bentley tapped her on her shoulder. ” I’ve got you ma, I won’t let you fall.” Serenity tries to fight the warm redness of her cheeks, but Bentley saw through it.

“Tell me a little about yourself Serenity.” “Oh my gosh, are you really going to put me on the spot like this? I’m a freshman at  Tallulah State University. I’m spending the summer here with my bestie. I’m shy at first, but I can also be demanding at times. I’m from Louisiana. How about you?”

“Me?!” He responds. “I’m just an average dude, trying to make it. I play ball, I work out, hang with the guys, you know the usual stuff. Nothing too major with me.”  Bentley looks down away from Serenity for a bit. “What are you studying at TSU?” Serenity hesitates to answer. “I’m still trying to decide what I really wan to do.No judgement please.” Bentley grabs her hand, ” I would never judge you. Trust me, I wouldn’t even have the right to do so.”

Serenity looks at Bentley confused but pleased at the same time. She was so accustomed to everyone having an opinion about what it is she should major in that it was comforting that Bentley didn’t comment on her uncertainty. “What about you though Bentley?” He scrambles for the words. He hadn’t quite thought this through entirely. How was he going to explain his situation to her, and so early on at that. “Not at the moment,” he murmurs. Serenity picks up on his body language and sees that he’s not too comfortable with that topic.

“That’s kool,” she responds.  “Not everyone jumps right into school. It’s no biggie.”  Bentley looks as though he’s greatly relived by her response. “You into movies, he asks her.”  She chuckles, “of course I am.”  “Okay then beautiful, let me take you out tomorrow night. Maybe around 6:30 if thats okay with you?” Serenity blushes at the mere idea that he wants to take her out. “Sure! that’ll be fine.” They awkwardly stare at each other for a brief moment before Bentley suggests they start to walk back toward the party.

Serenity’s Bliss

She met dude at a block party on the corner of LaBeouf St. and Tara Rd. A night full of booze, drugs, and a hint of freedom. The kush made the nigh a very hazy memory. All but him. A 6’1, 175lb god on this side of heaven! A green eyed cutie with a caramel complexion, wrapped in solid muscles. Brown curly hair, deep dimples greeted her every time he smiled. He smelled like paradise on any given day. She wasn’t bad looking either. 5’9 medium build shorty with beautiful black hair with a slight wave. Dark skinned, clean complexion, brown eyes, 145lbs, thick ass, wide hips, voluptuous breasts that said hello before her beautiful smile could.

He watched her all night. Just as she watched him. Neither expecting the other to be interested. She’s a kind of outcast with a bad streak that could be presented if given the opportunity to be herself instead of what others expected of her. He’s a jock with a more tender side that he keeps hidden out of fear of rejection from his peers. She turns her back for a split second to talk to her bestie. She feels a tap on her shoulder. She turns around with her cup in hand, straw to her lip and falls captive to his green eyes.

“Hi, I’m Bentley. I’ve been trying to get up the courage to come over to talk you, and uh, well here I am.” She gazes at him, lost, choking, can’t seem to get her words out. Her best friend shoved her in the back. “I’m Serenity.” She coughs out. “Nice to meet you. “ He responded.

She fiddles with her hair. He checks the time on his wrist watch. Awkward silence. “You wanna go for a walk so we can talk?” Bentley asks. “Yes. That’s kool.” Serenity adds. They walk out of the party together. Serenity looks back and Paige, her best friend, and gives her a shocking but exciting look. Eager to see where this goes!
